It is 2008! Very close to being 2009 and how long has it been since we have had the internet? Really....let's just say I wasn't even in High School yet. Yet somehow there are still stores, and well known stores, that do not sell online! WHY?!?!?!?!?!
Ive come across two today....just today! Two stores that I would like to buy stuff online in preparation for Christmas that just don't sell online. They have an online sight but no store. It tells you info about their store and their locations, etc so you can go into their store and buy their merchandise but no online shopping!
My first store was Maurices. It's a store I've always loved, even as a teenager but have just come to fall in love with their style and fit of clothes all over again lately. I shop there everytime I visit my family since they have one in town. Supposewdly this chain prides itself on "knowing their customers" so are usually in smaller towns and yes....does not sell online. My favorite pair of jeans are from Maurices. You know the kind. The ones you could wear everyday if they didn't stink..lol. The ones that you could sleep in because not only does you butt look good in them but you feel good in them! Yep those kind! However, I accidently left my parents tonight and forgot my precious jeans were in the dryer and this realization came after driving 2 hours home! I have plans to go out this week with friends and was planning on wearing those hot butt, comfortable, feelin' good jeans. So I figured I'd just buy then online when I came to find....no online shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
My second discovery wasn't much after my first devastation when I was thinking of these shirts my mother has that look really great on her. Being an older woman and a plus size I just knew these were something I needed to find and buy her some more of. I was there when she purchased them at the Dress Barn. At first I was reluctant to go into the store but there were some cute things and those shirts were it. So I go to find their online store and see if I could purchase them online and what do I see? No online shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When will these retail shops realize that they can still have great customer service even with having an online store. They would make more money and have more lovers of their clothes. No?

Rose Petal Cottage

This new toy is out and just in time for Christmas. My girls have fallen in love with this thing at the store and wouldn't leave the other day they wanted it so bad. It is soooo cute and the perfect size for a little girls. I have two, almost 2 and 3, and this would be the best present for them this year. I think I'll ask Santa to get it for them.
It is like a life-size doll house that has such things like chairs, washing and dryer machines, sinks, etc. You can buy tea sets and other accesories. It is better than any kitchen any child has. Truly the coolest!
The best part is Kristin at An Ordinary Life is giving away one of these WHOLE sets. So go check it out.

What no one told you about breastfeeding....
I have a great friend who is breastfeeding her 4 month old and had these to say. I thought they were great and added a couple of my own as well.
1.it does HURT in the beginning even if you do everything right, think about it your nipples aren't used to somebody sucking on them for 30 min every two hours. I've read so many places that nipple pain is caused by improper latch. BULLSHIT, even if you do it right it hurts the first week or so.
2. Lanolin smells funny and is sticky and gooey.
3. Breast pumps (the good ones are expensive) yeah yeah i know in the long run it's cheaper than formula but coming up w/ 300 plus is a lot at one time
4. growth spurts suck. if you're using formula you just put an extra ounce or two in a bottle and voila you're done. when your nursing you have to nurse around the clock for about two days until your body regulates your supply. don't get me started on if you go back to work and have to do this by pump, i hope you have an understanding boss. luckily mine pretends not to notice
5. your doctor doesn't know everything if he's not on board 100% kick him in the balls it's okay just this one time.
6. breastfeeding will affect your boobs, i read that it's being pregnant that takes a toll on your breasts not nursing, again BULLSHIT. The will never be the same again!
7. formula fed babies do sleep better and through the night much earlier, get use to running on empty for a while. sleep when she sleeps only works if your not going back to work
8. no matter how much you try you won't convince your hubby to get up in the middle of the night and place your baby at your breast for you.
9. a clogged duct hurts just as bad as a transition contraction but lasts much longer
10. Even the most discreet public breast-feeder will get looks
11. Breast pads suck and even the expensive ones are uncomfortable
12.You think that YOU and the baby are ready to be done breastfeeding and the last time you do it, you cry.
Now can you add to it?????

Palin as VP
As a woman I really wanted to like Palin. I read up on her some and thought wow...I'm a Democrat but I really like this woman..she's a real woman. She has 5 kids, one is military, one fights down syndrome everyday and one is a high school student and pregnant. She fights real life challenges we all fight on a daily basis.....then she opened her mouth.
The first speech I heard of hers was the 18000 cracks in the ceiling speech and we can break it down. Now I don't know about you but that rubbed me the wrong way. I can see, as a woman, how that was suppose to inspire me to vote for her..as woman. However, it just really pissed me off in the fact that just because I'm a woman I am suppose to vote for a woman. I do NOT vote on gender. I'm sorry but I am not one of those who they call "Vagina Voters" and vote only on that. I think that is an ignorant vote and to relay in her speech that if I do not vote for her it's like I'm voting against my gender just rubbed me completely the wrong way. I am very much for women's right and a women activist but to vote just on gender is just plain ignorant.
Regarding her pregnant Daughter. I like how the Republicans try to use that to their advantage as they are "pro-life" and will keep the baby. I hear the debate about how if she can't keep her 5 children in line and safe enough from things like this and smart enough to use protection to keep her safe then how is she suppose to keep our country safe. She very well may be president if McCain is elected since he is already up there in years. I'm not sure about his health but even if he is in good health I doubt a 75 yr old man can compete with a man in his 50s. That just science.
Also, she does have a Down Syndrome Child and whether or not it is biological hers or her daughter she has claimed this child as her own. As a mother myself, I do not see how she can devote the amount of time needed to this child if she is running for VP or even becomes VP. I do not think she is putting her family first. I would like more on this information though.
In the end, as much as I would love to vote for a woman because I am a woman and believe it is the time to have one in the White House....she will not be it. I vote on their stances and policies and I also DO NOT believe that religion plays any part what so ever in our politics. For Palin to make the statement that the Iraq War is "God's Plan" infuriates me. I want my President and executives of this country to make their decisions that affect all of us based on logic and science and fact. Not on faith. As much as faith plays a part in this country it doesn't belong in the Oval Office.
Barack Obama also showed what a great man he truly is when he made the quote, "Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."
Go Democrats!!!!

Break- Up Crazy's and Harassment
I've been married for 6 years so I've never dated or had to deal with the "adult dating world" per say. I met my husband when I was 18. I guess I just assumed as adults the dating world would be different. I've soon learned through my sister, who just went through a divorce and has started dating, that this is not the case.
After meeting a man online and chatting for a bit they decided to meet. Living 2 hours apart, she decided to meet him while in his town for a business meeting one week. They hit it off and spent most of the week together. I had the unfortunate experience of meeting him as well since I lived in his area. I knew something was strange in the beginning when he would never leave. He over-stayed his welcome everywhere and every time we saw him. He desperately wants a wife and kids and the white picket fence. I guess he thought he could just find someone with kids, marry and be happy. This was not going to be my sister after just going through a divorce and she sure as heck wasn't going to subject her children to this. So after 2-3 weeks she told him it just wasn't going to work out.
Now you would think any grown man would be able to accept this, again he is in his mid thirties and only knew her for a very short time. This is not the case. He believes he was lied too and led on by her...again 3 weeks and is now harassing her and threatening and blackmailing her with info he supposedly has on her...which is nothing. For instance, someone he (supposedly) has obtained her ex-husbands home and work phone numbers and addresses and is saying he is going to call him and her ex-in laws and say that the kids they share are not his and he needs to get a paternity test and stop paying child support. WHO DOES THIS? Again....3 weeks!!!
I find that part quite comical actually as they were married for 8 years and I would love to hear my ex-brother in laws reaction to that....he knows those kids are his and loves them dearly.
This guys is telling her he is sending our parents info about her and her other ex as well. He's also stated he knows a prominent lawyer if he needs to use him. Again....for what. Is he going to take her to court because she broke up with a grown man? Because he thinks she led him on and lied to him?
He had his friend contact her as well and try to figure out why she didn't want to be with him (can we say high school?...no middle school!) and get this...when she gave the reason that he wants kids and she doesn't want anymore as just ONE of the reasons...the response was no...he doesn't want his own kids he wants YOUR kids (and yes "your" was capitalized). I mean....what?!
Again....3 weeks!!!!!!!

This is what boredom does to my house
Dishes done, laundry folded, toys picked up, house is clean. Then there sits two children in a newly cleaned house and bored. They so desperately want to mess up the pretty clean room. So what happens? Mommy joins in! Sometimes you just have to throw your hands up and say, "oh well...why not!" Then the smile on their face is all worth it. :)

Magic Erasers saved my child's life
That's right. Those tiny little white Mr. Clean Magic Erasers that helps clean the worse of worst messes saved my child's life. I walked into my daughters bedroom to crayon all over her walls, her wallpaper border, her bedroom door, her toys, her baby dolls and her dresser! I don't even know where she found a crayon because I keep them out of reach for this reason....yet somehow she did and decided to color her bedroom. I kept my cool...and went straight my life saving stash of magic erasers. Thank goodness for these little sponges...it removed every bit of black crayon off of everything she decided to be creative on. PPhhheww....my child is safe from her mommy's wrath. :) hehe
